Manchester City made history with their comprehensive 4-0 victory over Basel in the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola‘s men took a massive step towards the quarter-finals with the win at St Jakob-Park and are favourites to win Europe’s premier competition this year.

Ilkay Gundogan stole the headlines with goals either side of the break for City and Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero also got on the scoresheet in Switzerland.

Liverpool held the previous record with their 3-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the quarter-finals back in the 2006/07 season.
