Manchester United will have to pay up to £36million to land Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier, reports say.

The Red Devils have tracked Meunier for several months and the Belgian has dropped a few tentative hints on social media he may be open to a switch to the Premier League.

Meunier has fallen down the pecking order at PSG and was named on the bench for the Ligue 1 side’s biggest game of their season on Wednesday night.

Dani Alves is PSG’s No.1 right-back and it seems the 26-year-old may be looking for a transfer elsewhere in the summer.

Calciomercato claim Juventus have already opened talks with PSG about bringing the full-back to Italy and the Italians have been quoted a fee of between £30m and £36m.

United would easily be able to meet that figure, although it is believed Juventus have turned their noses up at PSG’s asking price.

Jose Mourinho will move to strengthen United’s backline this summer after adding some serious firepower to the Red Devil attack.

The United boss admitted he would not be searching for further attackers when the summer window opens.

Meunier is under contract in Paris until 2020 and PSG will be hoping a bidding war erupts for his signature in the summer.

Only ten of Meunier’s 23 Ligue 1 appearances this season have been starts, and the 23 minutes he managed against Real was the first time this campaign the Belgium international has featured in Europe.
