A swat team were filmed evacuating a classroom as a shooter reportedly opened fire on a high school in Florida today.
Terrified students were caught on camera being told to hold their hands in the air as armed officers entered the room at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
The video was uploaded to Twitter by Melody Ball – the sister of a pupil.
She said: ‘My little brother just sent me this video of the swat team evacuating his classroom at Stoneman Douglas.
‘So scary but glad he’s safe.’
At least 17 people are now confirmed to have died in the atrocity.
Former student Nicholas Cruz, 19, has been named as the suspected shooter.
Fellow students said that he was ‘obsessed’ with guns and described him as a ‘troubled kid’.
Students barricaded themselves in classrooms during the attack, which saw the school put into lockdown.
Sheriffs later confirmed they had a suspect in custody.
Florida Senator Bill Nelson told NBC news there were a ‘number of fatalities’, with earlier reports claiming up to 50 people had been injured.
President Trump tweeted his condolences shortly after, writing: ‘My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting.
‘No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school.’
