While most people love Easter and all the chocolatey goodness it has to offer, others who aren’t chocolate lovers don’t really see the big deal.

However, if you’re more of a savoury fan – well, to be more specific a cheese lover – then you’ll be happy to know that you can get in on the Easter egg fun: Asda has just launched an Easter egg completely made out of cheese.

After recent stats revealed that 60% of Brits would choose cheese over chocolate, Asda was inspired to create the Cheester Egg – aka a large egg made entirely out of cheese.

The half egg-shaped cheese, half condiment will offer the entire cheeseboard egg-sperience (sorry), as it comes with crumbly mini oatcake crackers and a sachet of sweet caramelised onion chutney.

The cheesy twist on an Easter classic has been crafted using Blacksticks Blue Cheese and is made using freshly sourced milk and traditional Farmhouse Dairy methods.

If you don’t fancy buying it for yourself, it’s great as something to bring along to a dinner party as it can be used as the centrepiece of a cheeseboard.

The Cheester Egg is the latest addition to Asda’s Easter offering, which has been launched alongside the new Cadbury giant Daim Easter egg – which is made using Daim-infused chocolate.

James Clapham, commercial manager of Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses, says: ‘We’re a nation of cheese fanatics, so we know consumers will love the Cheester Egg. It’s an un-expected yet delicious twist on a traditional Easter favourite, and we can’t wait for Asda customers to enjoy our handmade quality blue cheese’.

Jo Miller, Asda’s head of cheese added: ‘We’re so excited to launch the Cheester Egg. Following the incredible response to our Christmas cheese advent calendar, the Cheester Egg was the obvious next step to show our customers that we’re constantly listening and ensuring there’s something for everyone at Asda this Easter.’

Here’s to one hell of a cheesy Easter.
