Inspired by the loud and electric era of the 80s – which is totally in line with the rule-breaker maison – these new haute joaillerie creations are fully embracing the unexpected by working the more is more style.
Focussed on the creative scene ruled by the 80s icons who were changing the pop culture world then, such as Madonna, Prince, David Bowie and Blondie, it was actually King of Pop Art Andy Warhol that provided the impulse for Wild Pop. Improvising and following his artistic directions thanks to a visit to the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts in New York, Bvlgaris creative director Lucia Silvestri was infatuated by the inspirational flair when she saw Bvlgari catalogues and correspondence in the artists archives, as Nicola Bvlgari and Andy Warhol were friends. Silvestri just wanted to do something about this extraordinary dialogue between Bvlgari and Andy Warhol.
Experiencing Warhols keepsakes reminded Silvestri of the instructions working with Nicola himself, which were the words you have to dare. With the Wild Pop collection, jewellery takes on its most audacious and irreverent persona yet, capturing daring of today in a collision of fashion, art, tech, culture and innovation, obviously with the liberal splashes of 80s.
