Venus Williams has faced her sister Serena on 30 occasions across the past two decades, but she ranked her sisters performance on Friday night as the best of the bunch.
The 38-year-old was well beaten by her younger sibling, who won 6-1 6-2 in a one-sided affair, and had few complaints about the result.
In her post-match press conference after the defeat, the seven-time major winner hailed her sisters performance.
And she claims its the best shes ever seen her play in their numerous meetings on the WTA Tour.
I think its the best match shes ever played against me, she said.
I dont think I did a lot wrong. But she just did everything right.
Obviously that level is definitely where shes going to want to stay during this whole tournament.
I mean, she played so well, I never got to really even touch any balls.
When your opponent plays like that, its not really anything to be upset about. She just played much better than — the only thing I maybe could have done was put more first serves in.
Even then she returned the first serve really well. Any shot that I hit great, she hit a greater shot. Not a lot I can do.
