Jack Wilshere has urged Unai Emery to keep Aaron Ramsey at Arsenal and believes his former teammate is a future captain for the Gunners.
Ramseys contract expires at the end of the season and the 27-year-old revealed last week that Arsenal had withdrawn their offer of a new deal, which means he is set to leave the club on a free transfer next summer.
Reports have claimed that Emery is backing Arsenals decision to not offer Ramsey a significant increase on his current wage.
But Wilshere has urged the Arsenal manager to reconsider.
Hes grown up to be a great player with Arsenal. They could do with someone like him. We know what he can do for the club, Wilshere told the Islington Gazette.
For me hes a future Arsenal captain. I know he loves the club.
Its difficult for me to comment on because Im not there but I do know hes a great player – if it was me I know I would want to keep him around.
Hes a great guy to have around. Hes been at the club so long and knows it inside out. If you look at what hes done for the club too.
We went into the first team in the same year. He came from Cardiff and I came from the youth team.
We automatically clicked because we were both young and new to that sort of environment.
