At least four people have been killed and a further 15 injured in a terrifying bus crash in Russia.
Police said both passengers and passers-by were killed when the bus plunged into an underpass in a busy part of Moscow.
Horrific CCTV from the scene captured the bus veering off a road and smashing down steps into people.
Other witnesses can be seen scattering as the bus zoomed toward them, before being brought to a halt by the tunnel’s roof.
The incident occurred near Slaviansky Boulevard station in western Moscow.
Officials said there is no suggestion it was a terror attack while Russian investigators said the driver told police the vehicle had started to move suddenly.
He tried to apply the brakes but they did not work, the investigative committee said, with the crash happening in icy conditions.
Russian news agencies quoted Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin as saying he had ordered all city buses to be checked in the aftermath of the crash.
While health officials said four people had died, interior ministry spokesman Col Yuri Titov said the accident had claimed five lives.
A preliminary examination showed the driver of the bus was sober, news agencies said. He has been held by police.
