Mohamed Salah has revealed he feared he was offside after scoring on his Liverpool debut.
The Egyptian netted in the 3-3 draw with Watford on the opening day of the Premier League season, scoring Liverpool’s final goal.
While happy to have opened his Reds account at the first attempt, his first thought was to look to the linesman.
‘It was a great feeling for me to score in my first game for Liverpool,’ he told Sky Sports. ‘I was very happy. First of all I was thinking if it was a offside or not, but then I looked to the linesman and he said goal so I was very happy.’
Since then Salah has been unstoppable, scoring an incredible 15 Premier League goals at the halfway stage of the season.
While that goal was among his favourites, it was his strike in the Merseyside derby earlier this month that stands out the most.
‘The goal against Southampton [3-0 win in November] was good and Everton I like a lot. Watford was a special moment too. It was a good feeling to start with a goal in the Premier League and I wanted to do it in the first game.
‘But it has to be Everton because I am using everything for this goal – power, skill, finishing. That’s my best goal so far.’
Salah will hope his amazing scoring run continues on Boxing Day when Liverpool take on Swansea.
