Ronaldo has called on his old club Real Madrid to sign compatriot and Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar if they want to turn around their fortunes.
The La Liga champions have put up a meek defence of their crown, falling 19 points adrift of leaders Barcelona and are in a scrap just to finish in the top four, while they have also exited the Copa del Rey.
Meanwhile, former Barca star Neymar is said to be itching to return to Spain despite making a superb start to life in Paris, with his 18 goals and 11 assists helping PSG move 11 points clear at the top of Ligue 1.
Real have been heavily linked with a move for Neymar, who has fallen out with teammate Edinson Cavani, and Ronaldo would welcome seeing his countryman at the Bernabeu.
Speaking at a Nike event in London which both stars attended, Ronaldo said: ‘He is a superb player, maybe he will be the best in the world in a few years and Real Madrid need the best.
‘I haven’t heard any official representative of Real say anything about Neymar.
‘But they should think about what they have and this year it is difficult for Madrid, they must keep going and end well.’
Neymar is believed to have grown annoyed with PSG’s lack of support for him over his set-piece row with Cavani, with fans even turning on the Brazilian when he denied the Uruguayan a spot-kick that would have set a new goal record for PSG.
He is also said to be frustrated with the physicality and defensiveness of French football, and it is thought that Real would even be prepared to trade Cristiano Ronaldo to PSG to sign Neymar.
