Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles insists hes happy in the north-east and isnt paying much notice to interest from Chelsea.
The defender was crucial to the Magpies survival last season and his performances didnt go unnoticed by Chelsea, who have made a point of signing English talent like Ross Barkley and Danny Drinkwater in the last 12 months.
The 24-year-old is viewed as a potential long-term replacement for Gary Cahill but it will take around £30million to lure him away from St James Park.
However, Lascelles insists hes not paying much attention to the speculation as he has a long contract with Newcastle.
I dont really take much notice of it, Lascelles told the Shields Gazette. said Lascelles.
Since I was 16, theres always been speculation and interest from clubs.
My dads always said to me, and he still says now, dont take any notice of it – just concentrate on your job, work hard and be the best player you can be
Your football will take care of yourself if you do that.
Im happy. Im a Newcastle player. Im still tied down to a long contract. Its about having a good pre-season and starting the season right.
