Founded by Jean-Christophe Chopin eight years ago, the BORN Awards are a celebration of creativity and design. And held in London for the first time last week, the winners read like a list of ELLE Decoration favourites.
BORN is the worlds largest digital platform for fashion, sport, design, tech, motor and creative intelligence, with the aim of enabling collaborations and facilitating networking between the disciplines. And there was certainly an air of camaraderie as the greats of the design world gathered at the Design Museum for the eighth annual Land Rover BORN Global Awards.
The winners were selected from over 7,000 entries to the Land Rover BORN Global Awards, from six regions; the UK, Spain, Italy, France, The USA and the Rest of the World.
Winning from the UK in the interiors category was Michael Anastassiades for Flos (whose Arrangements light is pictured above), which the judges unanimously agreed was “a fantastic display of the parallels between lighting and jewellery”, while Brompton, led by Will Butler-Adams, took the mobility category for its Brompton Electric bike.
Michael Anastassiades said: “We design knowing that the product speaks to us and we use our judgement to design something that speaks to others. To receive this award is the acknowledgement of its success, and proof that it has touched others.”
