Liverpool are prepared to offload Fabinho just a few months after he arrived at Anfield to fund a move for Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic, according to reports.
The Brazilian arrived from Monaco in a £43.7million deal over the summer, though he has struggled to adapt to the demands of the Premier League and has started just three times.
The 20-year-old was one of the stand-out players in the USAs defeat to England at Wembley and is widely regarded as one of the outstanding young players in European football.
Klopp knows all about him from his time in charge of Dortmund and is desperate to be reunited at Anfield, believing that he has all the qualities required to tear up the Premier League.
While BVB are prepared to sell – given that his contract expires in 2020 and talks over a new deal have hit a roadblock – Liverpool will face significant competition from the likes of Chelsea.
The Blues have reportedly gazumped many of their rivals in the race for Pulisic, reaching out to his camp, and want to wrap up a deal in January while the prospect of a transfer ban looms over them.
Fabinho has not lived up to expectations at Liverpool since joining but he has suitors in Italy, with both AC Milan and Juventus interested.
If Liverpool do therefore enter a bidding war with Chelsea for the American, any transfer could be subsidised by the departure of Fabinho even if they may struggle to get all their money back.
