Raphael Varane has told Real Madrid chiefs he is determined to leave this summer, with Manchester United desperate to land him.

The World Cup winner was said to be considering his future at the Santiago Bernabeu as he sought a fresh challenge and he has now communicated his desire to find a new club this summer, according to El Chiringuito.

Varane is thought to be keen on a move to the Premier League and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a big fan of the France centre-back.

United chiefs were willing to submit a £100million bid for the 25-year-old if he formally told the La Liga champions of his desire to leave and it now appears to be the case.

Real manager Zinedine Zidane has made no secret of his desire to keep his compatriot in the Spanish capital and issued a hands off warning to other clubs.

Zidane said: I can tell you he is very happy here, has been here eight years, has done phenomenal so far.

I dont see him as people have said recently, he looks happy and committed in what he is doing.
