Ryan Giggs has claimed that Manchester United new boy Daniel James is the quickest player hes seen in his entire playing and managerial career.
James became the first signing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaers reign on Wednesday after United agreed an £18million fee with Swansea for the 21-year-old winger.
The youngster joins United on the back of an exceptional breakthrough season at the Liberty Stadium in which he terrorised Championship defenders with his electrifying pace while notching up four goals and seven assists across the campaign.
Solskjaer consulted former United team-mate, Giggs, about James before advancing with the move and Wales manager reportedly gave a glowing reference of the attacker.
Giggs has given United fans an exciting insight into James game and lifted the lid on the Welshmans frightening pace.
First of all, his best attribute is his speed, Giggs told Uniteds official website following James unveiling.
I mean, Ive probably not seen anyone as quick as him in my whole career.
Thats a big shout, because obviously Ive played [with] and played against quick players.
Giggs has backed James to make the step up to the Premier League and claims the two-footed attacker poses a threat anywhere across the front three.
He can play a number of positions – anywhere across the front three, really – and, this year, hes played quite a bit for Swansea up front, which hes not done a lot of in the past, but hes looked comfortable, he added.
Hes a nightmare for defenders.
Hes not that big, so its hard to get your arm across him. Hes both-footed, can score goals, create goals.
Hungary manager Marco Ross likened James to sprint legend Usain Bolt ahead of the sides Euro 2020 qualifying win over Wales.
James speed reminds of Usain Bolt – to be so fast like him is really incredible, Ross said.
