A 73-year-old man killed his wife of 50 years after she told him she was planning to leave him, police said.
Ronald Strouse was charged with murdering his wife Susan, 72, on Tuesday in their home in Lake Wales, Florida.
Strouse reportedly called police and told them that he had gotten in a fight with his wife and she was dead. Officers arrived and found him sitting on his porch.
He told police that his wife told him she wanted to separate, take all of their money, and move out of their house. He also said she refused to give him a reason as to why she wanted to leave him.
Strouse said he became frustrated when she would not give reasons for her decision. He admitted that he dragged her to the ground then choking her to death.
Officers found Susan Strouses body in the living room of their house after they arrested Ronald.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told ABC: This was a particularly brutal murder. We arent sure why Ronald Strouse murdered his wife of 50 years.
