AC Milan have made Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira their top target this summer and are reportedly considering offering Franck Kessie as part of the deal.
The Uruguayan enforcer only moved to the Emirates last year in a £26million move from Sampdoria and enjoyed a strong maiden campaign, though admitted last week that he has struggled to adapt to life in England.
His old Sampdoria boss Marco Giampaolo could provide an escape route, having made the 23-year-old his dream signing as he prepares to take charge at San Siro.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have not been put off by Arsenals stance that Torreira is not for sale and have already got in touch with his agent to discuss the feasibility of a deal.
Milans move is boosted by the fact that Torreiras girlfriend, Vittoria Repetto – who is from Genoa – is not enjoying life in London and would like to return to Italy.
Any deal for Torreira would require Milan to stump up around £40m to tempt Arsenal to sell, though the Italian side could lower the fee by including a player in the deal.
According to Tuttosport, Kessie is the player Giampaolo is prepared to cash in on: either in a trade with Arsenal, or to another club to raise funds to bring Torreira in.
