Woman, 19, dies after theme park ride breaks apart in mid-air

Terrifying footage shows the moment a sky-high flying saucer ride suddenly breaks apart in mid-air, sending thrill-seekers crashing to the ground from a height of 23ft.

A 19-year-old girl was killed in the tragedy at the Istiklol theme park in Jizzakh, a city in ex-Soviet state Uzbekistan.

Seven others survived the horrific accident, said authorities.

Riders were strapped in and flung high in the air for a 360-degree swing, but the metal arm of the ride snapped in half, sending them plummeting to the ground.

Screams of joy and delight turn into cries of pain and horror as the huge metal arm came apart.

The Uzbek authorities said one teenage female rider was killed, but did not specify if there were injuries to other riders.



The shocking video ends after the platform smashed to the ground.

The victim was identified by her initials MH, aged 19.
