A Labrador who suffered such horrific abuse she had to be put down spent her final days eating cheeseburgers and ice cream.

Staff at the Edgewater Animal Shelter in Edgewater, Florida, were distraught on realizing the Lab mix, called Ellie, was too sick to save.

So they vowed to make her last few days alive as pleasureable as possible – and began by feeding her some delicious treats.

A shelter spokesman explained: Unfortunately hard as we tried Ellie was far too sick and was suffering. We treated her over the the past three days hoping she would rebound but she was far to weak to recover…

As always we appreciate your support and we are very sad that we could not help Ellie.
