Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has blocked Rangers attempts to re-sign Ryan Kent this summer as he wants to keep the forward at Anfield.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Ibrox and was crowned the PFA young player of the year after an impressive campaign north of the border.

Steven Gerrard has leaned on his close relationship with the Reds since taking charge of Rangers and hoped that the Reds would sanction another loan move for Kent.

However, according to the Express, Klopp has peronsally blocked the move as he wants to integrate Kent into his first team squad next season.

The German wants Kent to provide back-up to the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane as Liverpool eye another title tilt.

Manes Senegal are into the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations and the winger could miss the first fortnight of the season as hes given an extended break to recover.
