Day Care workers held girl, 5, by ankle and let older children bully her
Two day care employees are accused of doing nothing as a five-year-old girl got viciously bullied after one of the workers was caught on camera dangling the girl by her ankle.
Joshua Tennant, 27, and Emma Dietrich, 31, are both charged with child endangerment after the incident on August 13 at the Worthington Learning Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Police said Tennant and Dietrich made no attempt to stop the girl from being bullied as other students were grabbing, pulling, dragging, (and) swinging at her.
Authorities released a photo of Tennant holding the child up by her ankle to show the severity of the situation.
Investigators said the girl, identified only as SK, curled up into the fetal position to protect herself while she was allegedly attacked in Dietrichs classroom.
In a statement, the Columbus police said: At one point SK attempts to get away from the other students and they continue to “bully” her by grabbing her and holding her down.
During the video, Ms Dietrich and Mr Tennant continually sit in chairs at the table and watch the “bullying” actions of other students against SK and do not attempt to stop the “bullying” actions of students.
The statement continues: At one point in the video Mr Tennant picks SK up by her right ankle (eventually he grabs her left let) and carries her upside down and places her back on the rug.
